About Me

The Clinician Behind the Communication

I’m Colette Lawler — a GDC-registered Dental Hygienist and Therapist, medical writer, and health communication specialist.

With over 20 years in clinical practice, an MSc in Health Informatics, and a PgCert in Oral Cancer, I help oral health and digital health teams turn strong evidence into clear, trustworthy content they can publish with confidence.

My Story

After two decades in dentistry, I noticed something important.

Most patients weren’t struggling with treatment.

They were struggling with understanding.

One day, after a routine appointment, a patient said to me:

“Why has no one ever explained it like that before?”

That moment stayed with me.

Because I’d seen it again and again — when people understand what’s happening and why it matters, their confidence changes. And when confidence changes, care improves.

It’s not just about procedures.

It’s about the conversations around them.

The calm explanations.

The reassurance.

The moments when things finally click.

After thousands of these one-to-one interactions, I realised I wanted to reach beyond the patients in my chair.

That’s why I founded ByteWise Health Info — to scale the explaining, translating, and supporting work I’ve always loved.

Today, with postgraduate training in health informatics and oral cancer, my work sits at the intersection of oral health, prevention, and digital innovation. I help organisations communicate everything from gum disease and behaviour change to early-detection technologies — clearly, responsibly, and without hype.

Clarity builds confidence.

And confidence supports better care.

My Approach

Every project starts with listening — to your goals, your audience, and the evidence behind your message.

I combine:

  • Clinical accuracy

  • Communication strategy

  • Insight into how people use health and digital tools

to create content that informs, reassures, and builds trust.

Whether it’s an SEO article, a CME module, or a long-form feature, my aim is always the same:

To make health information understandable, credible, and human.
